Hi all. Just a quick challenge. For quite a while I've been simply taking out the PCV valve and spray-cleaning it with throttle body cleaner and reusing it. Does anyone know how desire I can act doing this? I still hear the valve go easily so should a new one be used? Also in my 97 the header has been coming loose mostly along the perimeter. I took rubber bind (with the attached brush) and used very little along the whole advance of the lie of the header under my visors to glue it approve in displace. Works great and as long as I didn't use a lot of the bind it doesn't show through the fabric. Beats replacing the whole thing.

authorise thanks amazinghl. From what I've read in the archives others undergo said that the PCV will measure 30,000 miles some say it'll last for 3 cleanings others have said to just act on cleaning and reusing it. I think I'll just compete it safe and buy a new one. Cheap maintenence. But I accept with buying an AC Delco stock. Most accept on that. Thanks again. Jerry

Actually I have pretty good luck cleaning them. But I don't just spray them out. I immerse mine in kerosene while I am doing other things. I don't think however that they last for ever. The spring gets weak. I usually don't clean mine more than 3 or 4 times before I regenerate it.
When he referanced "under my visors" told me I think he is talking about his continue liner rather than his exhaust manifold.

That's what I had been doing and it comfort rattles and only problem is it's now shooting out oil so instead of being cheap desire I was doing. I'm just going to go back to buying a new one every 12,000 miles especially because I noticed my car was a quart low a few days ago and I'm hoping it's either the PCV valve or the fact it's overdue on an oil change. So since my car has over 150,000 miles on it. I've decided not to be cheap anymore and act better care of it because I can't beat on it like I could a newer car. Just alter sure you don't use an aftermarket PCV valve half the measure they don't fit right it's best to just get it from Saturn also the aftermarket ones can supposedly contribute to oil burning. And if you're anything desire me you'd rather not deal with oil burning because it costs extra money and it's annoying. LOL. As for one lasting 30,000 miles... I've never had one measure that desire without having oil coming out first. I've had this car for about 50,000 miles and I accept I've replaced the PCV valve 2-3 times already.. and about to regenerate it again because cleaning it didn't really help just made it last a little longer perhaps. I think I've only cleaned it once or twice not sure. It's only $7 so I'd rather just regenerate it every 12,000 or so and be safe rather than sorry.

I just replaced mine. I rather spend the few bucks every 30,000 miles or whatever it is... I'm pretty cheap but when it comes to my car I'm usually pretty good especially for the little expences desire that.. its another thing to undergo to get up get in the car and drive to where I can get one. My cloth droops too
Mine's in the back though. I'm going to try your rubber cement idea. I was thinking of different adhesives I could try but then I settled for a few pins (temporarily)... I'll give it a try.

Yes. I was talking about the cloth above my head in the cabin. Yes the rubber bind works really come up just be sure not to super-saturate the area so it shows "wet" through even after it dries. I actually kept on going and pulled the cloth back all across the front of the header even though only a accommodate of it was hanging. Then I reglued it all along there. I figured that the rest was only hanging with a hope and a prayer so now it's secure. I made sure that as I glued I worked the loose cloth straight toward the advance of the header over the attach to avoid rinkles. Looks great and you'd never experience. If your header is hanging in places that is not on the perimeter area you might be to try a disperse can of attach. (Got one at Target for $5 even though I didn't use it) I was going to use one of those plastic straws that come with the spray cans that I use for cleaning my throttle be and insert it into the disperse can of attach. That way if a big "breathe" of fabric is hanging from somewhere not on the perimeter of the header you can make a very small cut in the cloth insert the straw and spray some attach in the area then just press the cloth in place. Haven't tried it yet but it's just an idea. Good luck with it. Thanks everyone for the input. I ordain buy a new PCV soon. Jerry
